Jackson 2bears is an installation and performance artist currently based in Victoria B.C. Practicing under his given aboriginal name, 2bears' audio works range from live pa performance to site specific installations that utilize sonic technologies to develop dynamic and immersive aural spaces. Within his performance works, 2bears often combines the organic with the electronic in an attempt to find a balance between the calculated and the imaginary. In the area of multi-media sound works he has collaborated on numerous projects with the LiminaL collective, and has developed solo projects for various art galleries throughout Canada. His history in the field of sound production begins in 1998 wherein he produced his first public work, scoring a soundtrack for the Unrabnnation movie production Bloodriver. Currently working in Victoria BC at the Pacific Centre for Technology and Culture, 2bears is developing new strategies for performance and sound production. His most recent works are heavily studio based productions that incorporate random samples from the internet, found acoustic material, in-depth computer programming and hand played instrumentations.
